RDGLDGRN have a highly stylized sound that takes hip- hop infused punk and indie rock to create something refreshingly unique and it’s getting attention from fans stretching far beyond the DC niche scene.
Creating art that reflects the times is a definite must, but ‘Karnival’ is a song of celebrating the positives knowing there is needed change in the world but continuing to express ourselves even when times are hard. Growing up in a Haitain household, I was always aware of the Carnivals that take place in the Caribbean and across the world. My older family members valued this celebration and always saw it as a place where you could be you, have fun and leave the pains and frustration behind to feel free no matter who you are. No judgements and expectations at the Karnival. ‘Looking at the ways of the older folk, channeling my pain to a Karnival.’ – GREEN
RDGLDGRN (pronounced red gold green) have just debuted in this world, straddling the genre lines to combine musical polarities, uniting artists and fans over music that’s multifaceted! Combined of three powerful music colours they started making basement studio music, with a diverse pool of influences like Chuck Brown, Vampire Weekend and Bad Brains.
Producer Kevin Augunas (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Cold War Kids) quickly took notice of the band, and in addition to producing RDGLDGRN’s debut, also signed them to his label, Fairfax Recordings (Gotye, Tribes) in a joint venture with Universal Republic Records.
They have even entered the legendary Sound City Studio in CA, where Fleetwood Mac recorded “Rumours” and Nirvana “Nevermind”… The past they support and sustain is heavy although the future is super en-lightened with their obscure and fresh influences through the album! Enjoy the sound and follow them on Insta and Facebook!
