Rhian Sheehan re-entries with a new album in over five years! The single, ‘Soma Dreams’ featured today is taken from upcoming album A Quiet Divide. Even more impressive is the video to go with, like a dreamy inception of the protagonist, created by Sheehan’s visual collaborator Matt Pitt. All the cinematic world comes to life, animating motion-capture dance footage from acclaimed visual artist Hannah Tasker-Poland. This whole dreamscape has literally burst out from a baritone ukelele, loops on an old tape machine, an 8-bit toy keyboard synth and Sheehan’s wife, Raashi’s co-writing skills.
My 5 year old daughter named the track herself when she walked into the studio one day during mixing. Her name is Soma.
Rhian Sheehan steps up to a new string world full of intimacy and orchestral sketches. It’s bound to melt in your heart, the feelings come alive all at once through the compositional language. Pre-order the release here. Follow Sheehan on the official website and facebook for more updates!
