Consistent in shaping a multifaceted identity, the festival’s output is spread over the whole range of innovative music, embracing the coupling with contemporary forms of art.
Before its official opening, FASMA presents a string of pre-events in Greece and abroad. In order to kickstart this year’s edition with force, it welcomes Objekt, one of the most exciting representatives of Berlin’s techno scene, on Thursday the 5th of January 2017, at six d.o.g.s.
Objekt has quickly become one of the most consistently lauded producers of recent years. He has garnered an enviable reputation for attention to detail, evocative arrangements and inventive, effervescent sound design, coaxing sonic features from the most unlikely of places.
His sound, while broadly focused on techno, frequently incorporates elements from breakneck electro, acid, noise, house, and EBM.
FASMA, stressing the importance of establishing local DJs and producers, presents the live debut of bonebrokk, creator of the |TRIAL&ERROR| record label. Kondaktor, as the co-founder of Modal Analysis label, steps up assuming the DJ duty of the night, sided with the most recent female addition in the local electronic music scene, devika.
Despite releasing only a small handful of records since his eponymous white-label debut in 2011, Objekt has quickly become one of the most consistently lauded producers of recent years. The Berlin-based artist has garnered an enviable reputation for attention to detail, evocative arrangements and inventive, effervescent sound design, coaxing sonic features from the most unlikely of places.
His singles, from the Objekt #1-#3 white label series (2011-2013) to Hypnagogia (his 2014 split 12” with electro legends Dopplereffekt) and 2012’s Cactus/Porcupine on Hessle Audio, pointedly flout techno conventions while maintaining an unfaltering club focus. His output draws as much from Autechre, golden-era Warp and brittle, frenetic electro as it does from classic and contemporary house and techno, early dubstep, noise and experimental electronics. Flatland, his debut album, was released on PAN in 2014 and pushed further into sonic and structural experimentation than his club records were able to, without losing the musicality and physicality that made his singles so compelling. The quality control of his output has been reflected in its critical reception, Flatland for example featuring widely in the 2014 end-of-year album lists, and Ganzfeld (from Hypnagogia) scoring an unlikely #1 in Resident Advisor’s top tracks of 2014.
In parallel, Objekt has built up a reputation as not only a technically skilled but also regularly surprising and well-informed DJ. His sets, while broadly focused on techno, frequently duck and dive between the hypnotic and engrossing, incorporating off-kilter broken beats, breakneck electro, acid, noise, house, EBM and anything else necessary to illustrate his version of events, sometimes taking large jumps in tempo and drawing fully from the last 30 years of recorded electronic music.
Bonebrokk is a producer and DJ from Athens, Greece. He is responsible for the creation of |TRIAL&ERROR|, a record label and club night that he runs for the past two years.
With four releases under his name already, he creates and plays raw energetic club music, taking equal influence from techno, house and UK sound system music.
His next |TRIAL&ERROR| release “Hollow Systems” will come out in 2017 on vinyl.
A household name in the Athenian electronic scene and a co-founder of the experimental/techno label “Modal Analysis”, Kondaktor has been playing music as a DJ for over a decade. His DJ sets vary from deep techno and dark soundscapes to funky beats and Chicago house tunes.
In 2012 he debuted as a producer for Seattle’s “Further Records”. Kondaktor has two upcoming releases in 2017, in British label “Where to Now?” and French “Abstract Reality”.
Upcoming DJ in the local scene, devika engaged with various forms of musical expression before delving into the experimental electronic sound. Having emerged through the established Phormix events, her sets keep techno as a focal point, while they draw from a wide array of elements, from electro to drone.
