Skinny Dippers is an Indie music project formed in 2020 and Based in Brooklyn NY. Fronted by talented singer/songwriter Ryan Gross whose musical style spans a broad range of genres, blending driven guitars with analog synths and chord harmonies.
Along with Jordan Dunn-Pilz and Dan Alvarez of the band TOLEDO, they produced his debut album “The Town & The City” coming out this summer. At the moment we have in our hands the first single from the album, called Night to Day. It’s an Indie Pop-Rock track with some folk vibes in it, really great production, and a really interesting chord progression.
As I was listening and got to the chorus, I was really surprised by the unusual chord progression. It got me hooked and instantly fell in love with the track.
Gross’s vocals engulf the track with positive energy and the guitar strumming makes you lose yourself into thrills under the cover of darkness.
That’s actually what the song is about, or to be specific, half of it. With the other half of it being the indecisiveness in the day. Something most of us have experienced.
The change of not knowing what to do and where to focus in the day, versus the spontaneous decision taking of the night. Whereas it’s a simple choice of where to go for the next drink or to make that call you’ve been meaning to do for a while.
Skinny Dippers come with a very promising first single and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
