Artist Emily A. Sprague and Moog Music conjure a calming multi-sensory experience in “Chasing Light”.
“Chasing Light” is a new ambient piece Sprague composed using the Moog One polyphonic synthesizer. It opens up to light and wonder and is a really fascinating soundscape to watch (Super 8mm film) and listen to. The synthetic tones of the Moog travel you throughout – to her home, the ocean, and the mountains. In addition to making music with Florist, a folk trio, Emily Sprague is a synthesist, songwriter, and sound designer.
Her music is spacious yet full of energy, a vehicle for light. There is always a sense of joy and sensitivity for me when I fall in love with songs like this one. It’s a great way to kick off the shady year. Music will always have an effect on us. And this strange charm is an artifact to hang up on your music wall full of clarity.
Photographs taken by both Emily A. Sprague and Moog Music while filming together, along with an in-depth interview about the musician’s creative process, are featured on Moog’s website. You can read the full article here.
