Originally hailing from Cambridge, Lunacre just shared with us a culmination of a year’s work during October, in form of new EP ‘Schtum’. Cycle is quite literally a recycled version of an early release but with the track having become a standout moment of the live set, this new recording is an attempt at capturing some of that raw, unadulterated energy. The song deals with themes of repetition and societal tropes yet again reinforcing vocalist/lyricist Ben de Vries’s meticulous approach to song craft. The track begins with a haunting vocal that dances atop an ethereally sequenced soundscape, before the drums set a somewhat foreboding pulse, gradually creeping out from the darkness to evolve into a climactic finale. Let it become one of your favorite tracks.
Massachusetts producer Tonio Sagan returns with another incredible installment to his “Voyager Records” series, drifting even deeper into outer space on the haunting “Stranger Than Fiction”. The five minute track is a hypnotizing mini-epic that, like preceding cut “Voyager Records: Greetings”, is built on sounds curated by his grandfather, Carl Sagan. The late, great astronomer created a soundbank that traveled into space with the Voyager 1 & 2 shuttles in the 1970s, just in case the starships made contact with alien life. The track featured today is more hip-hop oriented paying homage to Tonio’s earlier years as a producer. Synchronize yourself with the Boom bap tempo and float into your space!
Best Friend from London, have just released their brand new Daylight EP, as they continue their cosmic voyage into a galaxy of laid back beats, chilled hop, funk and sample flips! I know you love them from the radio show airplay of #giveitaspin on Paranoise Radio. Need not, to say more as I know you’ll get right into their vibes at once as they are one of my latest favorite discoveries. They are unique in sound as they love to slice up 12inches and YouTube videos, reassembling them into nasty treaty hooks for our ears!
