Introducing Esmé, an uprising Sydney talent with glazing jazzy phrasing and a unique vision of folk/neo-soul.
As the first of December has arrived, the best way to celebrate, is falling on to a fresh debut EP in your mail-box that gives you the tummy shivers just like you’ve first heard Lianne La Havas. The road will be cherry-wise and bright for Esme, and her music has hit European soil. Esme has the gold old stamina of the greats (Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald) tinkled in her voice vocabulary and her new track “Come With Me” is a soothing jewel-like beverage of love. Greetings to my born-in-town Sydney, keep a look out for her.
“I wanted to create an intimacy between singer and listener, something organic and honest to my sound, while drawing inspiration from artist’s that I love like Moses Sumney, Nick Hakim and Lianne La Havas. With three chords and just an idea of a melody, we headed into the studio and created ‘Come with me’ in the moment. This song is about being intrigued and attracted to someone and asking them to follow you in a come hither kind of way.”
