Kalyan is a collaborative music group formed in Leeds. Made up of eight musicians and two producers, the group create a dark
blend of Dub, Soul, Jazz and Rock. Through their cultural background
each members experience in music has lead to a combination of styles
that shapes Kalyan’s unique sound. The band formed in 2013 and have
since been recording, writing and performing in Leeds.

Featuring track Nefarious which explores darker and more obscure tonalities, taking on a twisted identity of Kalyan’s previous releases ( discography ). With a sound designed intro, a catchy bass hook and an emotive guitar solo, the song explores the many different sounds of Kalyan. They have supported the likes of Gentlemans Dub Club, Trojan Sound System and headlining Flux. We have a lot, to get our headphones into this weekend.
Collective and soul-searching, two words they love., and for us to describe this talented musical tribe of creativity. All the tracks are stellar! By far the most favorite band I fell upon this year…. to keep in my heart for good. Waiting for an album, guys!
This is how self-expression expands itself with plenty of frequencies, great vocals and
organic studio production. There is a trademark sound for freedom, and a message to spread, don’t miss an event if your nearby to tell us the legend of Kalyan on stage. I would put them on one of my favorite playlists together with Zero7, Kilimanjaro Dark Jazz Ensemble and Submotion Orchestra to spice up the genres. Im not just enthusiastic I’m ecstatic!
