Are you wondering what real jazz freedom sounds like this particular Sunday?
Well for starters, fresh single Beber’s Cha Cha from the Shay Hazan Quintet expresses a new way of thinking to the world. The wonderful shrieking horns, piano, bass, and drums set forth a new free jazz wave of energy, an optimistic passion for the groove. The tune is dedicated to saxophone veteran Albert Beger, with whom Shay has played bass in the past eight years. We are looking forward to the 7″ vinyl with JAZZMAN Records later on this year and a full album announcement! Hazan says about the single: “Every release is a milestone for me, both on a musical and a personal level. This particular one brings to light my passion for words – the ones we sing, and the ones that come into our minds when we play our music.”
Shay Hazan’s consciousness and significant bass work carry the group into the magical realm of Gnawa music of Morocco, the new wave of Hip-Hop, and the 1960’s Chicago free-jazz and liberation movement. The quintet has been working together for several years now, and it continually fuels the Tel-Aviv jazz renaissance with North-African folklore music.
Beber’s ChaCha is a standout sounding incredibly fresh and joyful!
