I’m always extra happy when I fall into great bands that come from my birth town. And Sydney, always has a great vibe for alternative music. Post rock outfit Cloud Cycle have just released their first single Ahimsa and it’s fantastic!
Ethereal soundscapes of calm full sensibility float in the sky of evolution, attacking you with boundless post-metal energy. As the song develops, the aural senses burst into an endless atmosphere of purification. It’s been a long time since I turned over a post-rock stone and loved what I found underneath.
and for the record: Ahimsa – an ancient Sanskrit
word that signifies compassion and non-violence – the pair aspire to
ignite dialogue in an age fueled by avarice and greed.
The Boyd brothers (Johnny and Jeff gained exposure from their 2015 LP release “A state of being” under the name Blood Brothers) took a breath from their chaotic schedules and festival shows to delve inwards and craft music that is expressive of who they are and what they represent. And that’s what we respect most in artists. To be or play who they really are.
Inspired
by artists as diverse as Deftones, Underoath and Tesseract, Cloud Cycle
combine ethereal vocals, energetic guitar riffs and hard hitting drums –
delicately fusing complexity with integrity. Their music is written
and produced by Johnny in his bedroom studio – creating an authentic and
organic representation of their sound.
Their new single is a
perfect example of their desire and willingness to create a platform of
reflection for their listeners. Cloud Cycle are
currently working on their debut EP and are a powerful force to watch in
