Japanese pianist/composer Hideyuki Hashimoto adds a lot of space in Mai soundscape (taken from the Earth album) as if he is speaking with another person. This gentle dialogue of piano key-notes offers a great deal of relief to the listener. Think of watering your plants at home and listening to this. These patterns of gentle affection can take over hearts that we cannot understand or even the conscious minds of human beings. Untethered from the strict classical establishment Hashimoto makes fun-loving music with a neoclassical twist at his own pace. Either its music for scores or for JAL flight broadcasts Hashimoto knows how to grab his audience with an atmosphere of light and entanglement.
