Midori Jaeger is a jazzy folk rebel with her intellectual establishment in pizzicato cello riffs and serene vocals in groove-led songs. Born in Tokyo and raised in London by her Japanese mother and American father, Midori’s music is an expression of her diversity and versatility, blending folk, classical and jazz inflections, and inducing a uniquely sensitive, captivating listening experience which has been compared to Esperanza Spalding and Joni Mitchell. Breeze is her debut single, and is the first track from her debut EP look at us which was multi-tracked live with a full band in one day, and is due for release in January 2020. She has such an amazing and distinctive voice in a ‘Tracey Thorn’ capacity, of a much more acoustic flow.
Lyrically, Breeze explores feeling of being closed in, stuck, creatively stagnant, and longing for the release of nature, of breaking away from old habits, hang-ups, and finding that breath of fresh air in an increasingly polluted world. – Midori
