Formed in early 2010 Melbourne band STRANGERS FROM NOW ON began as a collaboration between vocalist Gabriel Santos’ theatrical and lyrically focused songwriting and Aidan Kelly’s guitar sound; a combination of atmospheric swirling and screaming noise and lead lines that roll with a kind of drunken precision. After several shows the pair recruited drummer Miranda Holt, who’s expressive, tom driven style, gave grounding to the band.
Their songs are equally haunting and beautiful, snap changes move from tense whispers to violent shrieks. The band draw on local influences such as Rowland S. Howard, The Drones, HTRK and Nick Cave as well as taking influence from a diverse number of International acts such as HEALTH, Hans Zimmer and Sonic Youth to the more melancholy sounds of Portishead, Antony and the Johnsons and Leonard Cohen.
Due to other commitments the initial bass player Tyson Lindley left in early 2010. STRANGERS FROM NOW ON currently consist of vocalist/guitarist Gabriel Santos, guitarist Aidan Kelly (also of the Euphoriacs), drummer Miranda Holt, and Daniel Myles on bass.
