It is with this we introduce The Shadowboxers, an L.A.-based group who are making a name for themselves in the wild world of modern American music. We catch them here via their newest single, ‘Breaking Habits‘; a work of a lovely, quixotic nature, which swirls & envelops listeners in its lush, emotional whirlwind.
There is a certain excitement around this retro-future-eseque 70’s aesthetic happening; almost akin to the eloquence of The Bee Gees, Queen, or even Captain Fantastic-era Elton John, yet filtered through the enunciated production of a 2022 engineering master. Yet for all of the grid’s ‘perfection’, there is no expense on humanism or broader expression – rather, we see a mesh of worlds that leaves tastes of all walks satisfied. Lavish harmonies, opulent synths, & the always classy pick up of lightning guitars & thunderous drums – this is the kind of piece you can see transcending barriers.
